Expect the treated area to look darker and a little scabby for around 2-3 weeks after the treatment. The results- much younger looking, toned skin. Surface imperfections associated with ageing and sun damage require only one to three treatments to achieve results depending on the extent of sun damage.
How many treatments will I need?
Most areas require over 8 treatments. However, the number of laser treatments required for long-term benefits depends on factors such as – hormones, hair strength, the area treated and whether the hair has been lasered in the correct hair growth cycle.
How long will the results last?
If the hairs are treated in the anagen hair growth cycle the results are permanent, and if the hairs are in the catagen or telogen hair growth phase then those hairs will grow again. Hence a course of treatments is required to achieve the desired results.
What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following your Laser treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen. Three to seven days after treatment the lasered hairs will work their up the follicle and start shedding, Client’s often think that these are missed or new hairs, but they these are the lasered hairs that were inside the follicle. These hairs will naturally shed and if they do not you should not wax or pluck your hair, but you can shave.
What are the possible side effects?
Although patients experience few side effects, the most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In rare instances, blistering and laser burn may occur. Contact your laser therapist immediately. The skin may take a few months to heal however there will be no long term tissue damage.
Our laser treatments are carried out experienced therapists that have operated the laser for many years and are highly qualified to advise on what is the appropriate course of treatment for you.
